Sidecut: The shape of the ski that allows it to turn, it’s the difference in width between the tip, waist, and tail of the ski.Camber: The amount of arch or curve that a ski has when it’s laid flat, a ski with more camber will have more power and edge grip, while a ski with less camber will be more forgiving and easier to turn.Rocker: The amount of curvature in the tip and tail of a ski, a ski with more rocker will be more forgiving and easier to turn, while a ski with less rocker will be more stable at high speeds.Sidewall: The vertical surface of the ski that surrounds the core, helping to keep the edge in contact with the snow and provide stability.Core: The interior of the ski, made of wood, foam, or other materials that give the ski its shape and strength.Base: The bottom of the ski, which comes into contact with the snow, it can be made of different materials.Edge: A thin strip of steel or other hard material that runs along the length of the ski, used to grip the snow and provide control while skiing.Top sheet: The top layer of the ski, which is visible when the ski is set on its edge, it is also called the “graphics” or “artwork”.Ski bag or carrying case: A bag or case used to transport skis and other equipment to and from the ski resort.Ski wax and tools: Wax used to improve the performance and glide of skis, and tools used to apply and maintain the wax.Hand warmers: Disposable heat packs that provide warmth for hands in cold weather.Base layer clothing: Clothing worn next to the skin, made of moisture-wicking materials to keep the skier dry and comfortable.Ski jacket and pants: Outerwear made of waterproof and breathable materials to keep the skier warm and dry while on the slopes.Ski helmet: A protective headgear that helps to prevent head injury in case of a fall.Goggles: Eyewear that protects the eyes from the sun, wind, and snow while skiing.Poles: Long, thin sticks used for balance and propulsion while skiing.Skis: Long, narrow boards made of wood, metal or composite materials, designed to glide on snow.Ski bindings: Devices that connect the ski boot to the ski, allowing for a release mechanism in case of a fall to reduce the risk of injury.Ski boots: Footwear specifically designed for skiing, with stiff soles and a secure fit to provide support and control while skiing.
